That's right Jimmy. It also depends on what rpm you check the timing at as well. I record timing at 4000 (right near peak torque) because I think that's most critical. Higher rpm will reflect less ignition timing due to coil retard. It's interesting to know how much retard the coil you are using has (especially in high rev engines.)
My reference in my above post was static timing on the bench. I always check it "in the hole" method, but the degree wheel will reference the same point on the bench.
