Carolina Karting Announces 16th Annual King of the Concrete and Trade Show for December 15th and 16th!
GREENSBORO, NC (September 22, 2017)- The Greensboro Coliseum will be promoting the 16th Annual King of the Concrete presented by Superior Trailer scheduled for December 15th & 16th at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. This mega event will be highlighted with the King of the Concrete paying $3,000 to win and a guaranteed purse with over $5,000. With the addition of the title sponsor, the purse for the King of the Concrete will increase. We will announce the increase in purse in the near future. Additional classes will be run Saturday all paying money including Pro Medium and Pro Heavy paying $1,000 to win with a twenty kart minimum. Also, this event will be highlighting the Junior Prince of the Concrete. At this time, the Junior Prince of the Concrete will offer $500 to win two junior divisions with an eight kart minimum. This may change as we obtain more sponsors as the event date gets closer.
At this years? event, we will offer a trade show with booth spaces at reasonable rates. We will offer vendors a captive audience of thousands of racers and fans. If you are in the karting or racing industry this is a must attend event for a vendor. More information will become available in the next couple of days. A 20 ft Continental Trailer will be raffled off during the event. Other items such as Phantom Racing Chassis, Mychron Tach, Bully Clutch, and Clone Engine will be raffled off at this years event.
Additional classes will be run Saturday all paying money including Pro Medium and Pro Heavy paying $1,000 to win with a twenty kart minimum. Also, this event will be highlighting the Junior Prince of the Concrete. At this time, the Junior Prince of the Concrete will offer $500 to win two junior divisions with an eight kart minimum. Clone Heavy and Clone Super Heavy will be paying $500 guaranteed for 1st and $200 guaranteed for 2nd. Also, Queen of the Concrete will pay $300 guaranteed and $500 with an eight kart minimum.
Friday night will be highlighted by the 3rd annual Prelude to the King. This division will pay $1,000 to win guaranteed and the winner will receive an provisional starting spot in the 14th annual King of the Concrete division on Saturday.
The tire rule for the upcoming King of the Concrete on December 15th and 16th, 2017 will be as follows:
-Burris 33 tire rule (right and left side) for the King of the Concrete division
-Burris 33 tire rule right side and any Burris tire (left side) for all divisions except the King of the Concrete division
-UAS will be open tire rule
The leader at halfway for the King of the Concrete will receive a $500 bonus from the Greensboro Coliseum.
The King of the Concrete will take place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. This event is unsanctioned but will be using NKA Engine Rules for Clone and AMB Timing and Scoring. The King of the Concrete will race 25 laps, take a 10 minute pit stop, and complete the remaining 50 lap race.
In the King of the Concrete main event, you can not change tires between the two segments. You must finish the race with the tires that you started the first segment. During the pit stop you can change anything on the kart with the exception of the engine, driver, kart chassis, tires, and wheels.
Friday December 15th will be an open and controlled practice day from 5pm-7pm. Classes will race on Friday night with qualifying starting at approximately 8:30pm. Saturday December 16th will be race day with classes running including the King of the Concrete, King of the Concrete Champ, Queen of the Concrete, Pro Medium, Pro Heavy and the Jr. Prince divisions. Gates will open at 9am with practice beginning at 10am.
There will be additional information about this event released weekly leading up to the event. There will be no charge for fuel (gas). The event will utilize the Clone engine package for all divisions. Seat height will be a non tech item. To be consistent with other indoor events, we will follow the following additional safety requirements. Weights must be bolted to the chassis or seat. The nerf bars are considered part of the chassis. For weights on the seat, you must use fender washers (large washers) under the bolt head. All weight bolts must be double nutted or safety wired. Do not attach weights to bodywork. Header bolts must be safety wired.
Safety is the overriding issue. If the Race Director or Tech Officials decide your weights are not safely attached, you will have to change them to suit the officials.
