2 stroke oil recommendations

One point I didn't read through out these comments was the difference between synthetic and castor based oils.
Smokeless synthetic oils DON'T BURN they unhook at a molecular level and don't burn in the mixture. Synthetic are for lubercation only.
Cator oil burns hence the buildup of carbon.
Heat = hp if you use more synthetic oil it displaces burnable fuel in the mixture.
Castor oils increase heat and slow the burn.

Castor oil mixtures are better for both lubercation and hp. Just my 2 cents

Pete, can you you elaborate?

Well, in my case, the engine was completely fresh every race (especially when I was testing oils). New mains, big end and small end rod bearings, piston, ring, etc. About the only thing I re-used was the seals if they looked good.

Redline is just fine all by itself and all things considered, I consider it to be the best oil you can use for the KT100. I've been using it for 20 years and never stuck a motor. If it makes you feel better you can pour a cap full of Blendzall green label on top of your 16:1 redline. Otherwise I'd avoid mixing different oils.

Sundog
there was a time years ago Redline want the best. But it has been reformulated. It is very good now.
