206 flywheel lightening

Im thinking of putting my 206 flywheel in a lathe. zero of all machine surfaces. Lathe the step out on the back side to reduce weight. Nobody near me can balance it that ive found yet. Who could and would balance it? Its been a good wheel! Im reving it 8200 at the end of the long straghts at the two local tracks. Arc has a 1.6 lb wheel that would drop 2 lbs. but you cant bolt the stock fan to it. Ive tested with no fan on gas and its hot, 380 degrees in 3 laps. On a very good day i will run 20 30 laps at a time. i know the danger of the wheel exploding! Has any one shaved a stock wheel conservatively with succsess? Say a 1/4 to 1/2 lb. Ive seen what its like to replace a 50 lb fly wheel and pressure plate with a 5.5 triple disc clutch.

In my experience 380 CHT on gas is not hot, I like to tune gas mixtures to 420-425. also is that 380 number a heat soak or at the end of the straight?
