3 disc Viper Clutch

First I want to thank whoever for adding me to this forum. Im new to this style of racing. Im actually more of a tractor racer, but the parts I use you will find on most Karts. I do have a few buddys who do race Karts. Anyways I bought a 3 disc Viper Clutch and its working awesome. This did come with 6 small bolts that I've never used. This may seem like a dumb question, but what is their purpose. My thought goes 2 ways. 1 they help the clutch engage at a lower rpm in conjunction with the springs or, 2-They simply help the clutch grab harder when engaged. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!!!!!

That's the gist of it.
Spring hieght and air gap play in as well.
Air gap being the space between the plates.
