6.5 hp with electric start

Just got my hands on some Champion engines with electric start
been thinking about this for some time so now to see if I can
get the powers to be make a billet flywheel with ring gear.
My thinking is why not they are out there for the WF and others.
Just think a modified or SA with out dragging that hand held
starter around.:cool:other 6.5hp are out too with electric start.
would others like to see this ? I see NR racing has a starter ring
gear for 40.00 has anyone tried this one ? says for billet ? but
some machine work is needed.

I would toss the charging just use a battery charger to keep it charged up
run the small sealed batter that can be recharged last all day on the wf
motors I run also.I would like to see it on say the 6619 or 6618 just
the gear.how much more could it be ? I would think in the same ball
park as the adjustable hub ??????

Trouble with the ring gear is once you install the flywheel and coil and work you do requires removal of that coil again.
I am not a big fan of doing that over and over for fear of loosening up the threads.

As for the charging coils the oem system was designed for 3600 rpm.
Anyone who has ever over ridden the governor on these things knows very quickly the output voltage rises to the point of damaging things.
There is also the parasitic losses ( small but how much ?).
I look at the lamination thickness on these charging coils and wonder if they will heat up at some point and fail ( 300hz or more might cause the iron to get hot enough to fry coils )

This is why I use studs for my coil.been doing that for years.but I don't take the coils off that much unless you really have to.
this is also why I said do away with the charging you don't need it
