Abnormal valve lash on built raptor, suggestions?

Good morning everyone please take a second and study the intake valve lash. I took three pictures in progression as it is opening I just purchased this cart with a built Raptor by Turners on it and I'm not sure what cam is or any specs it has. I think the lashes extremely large and I don't believe that it should be this way. However rolling the motor over the exhaust seems to have extremely high lift. Is there   ANY circumstance to where there should be that much lash? In my mechanical knowledge I have never ever seen or would think that this would be okay but before I tore the engine off and got into it I wanted to hear everyone's suggestions. I have 2 other motors ready to run so not a big deal.

Looks like you got a short lifter in there .
Simply because the tin says Turner doesn't mean someone else has not been inside .
Modified cams require Lifters .100 Longer then Stock .
Possibly the lifter heads broke off , that typically cause other damage .
Lifter bore could be broken as well .
Inspection Required.

Increasing lash on stock class plate motors is pretty common to lower duration and move the power curve downwards. Probably most common with purple plate motors. With a non stock class cam this seems odd. You could post the lash and the cam profile and perhaps someone can offer some insight into what you have. What do you have planned for the motor?

Oops just took another look at the photo didn't realize that the gap was huge. My guess is you have a valve seat that is coming out of the block. Do you have the head off?

Further inspection I couldn't not tear it apart LOL anyways I remove the side case and the tap it and is broken off it appears that they did not use tappets

Looks like broken valve spring or 2 different length springs. If you are pulling apart I would check both springs thoroughly.

Looks like it’s probably got a cam with a small base circle and someone didn’t know to use extended lifters.

What? Tappet head was broken off
Yes, the head of the intake lifter (tappet) may have broken off. Very common with fast ramp cams (especially if they used a stock lifter.) One too many collisions with the bottom of the lifter galley can easily cause this with "slapper" cams.
Certainly too much lash because the intake lifter is too short (it should never drop out of sight into the lifter bore.)
