Acetone in Methanol

Want to know why people add Acetone to their Methanol/oil mix on a 2t engine?

in the three articles I read sense looking at this are
1 it helps with detonation one fellow claimed you could run leaner fuel ratio.
2 It breaks the surface tension of the fuel to help it vaporize in the combustion chamber.
sounds like voodoo to me. I am not an expert on this subject by any means

Just a fact....the human body produces acetone naturally and i can say it mixes well with alcohol .

I was advised by an engine builder to run this fuel recipe.
1 us gallon of Methanol
6 fluid ounces of 2t oil
10 fluid ounces of Acetone
10 fluid ounces of Oxygenated Race Fuel

What engine ? Skip the oil that would be good for a open/rwyb clacker .

Bud sorry about the confusion I'm talking 2cycle 2smoke engines ,it's worked for me for ever. If you have a builder I would take his advise over mine you're paying him. later Chuck.

Heres my take the oxygenated race fuel would act as a starter with the benifits of whatever oxygen is in it . The acetone would help keep it mixed plus an igniter fuel . the oil choice may well be whats available .
Still curious which engine hes running .
A kt 100 would be a little easier to take if you stuck a piston , then a big sudam .

Flattop1 is pretty much spot on in my opinion I won't comment on the other recipe it's over my pay grade lol. My advice to those who want to know more about fuel recipes is to school yourself, handing out fuel recipes can be hazardous to all parties involved. later Chuck.

FYI - I put 10 ounces of acetone in a gallon of gasoline .
Couple ozs stabill and marverl mystery oil.
My16hp Leaf /vacuum Rider Tecumseh Clacker .
Ran great .
