Does Ackerman steering improve performance on the oval?

I was just wondering why oval karts don't have ackerman columns...and figuring I'd try one out.

Yes it will help on certain ovals and indoor tracks.
Here's a link to the ultramax page that talks about it. Should be the same for most karts as we change it on our Phantoms.

If your spindles weren't constructed with Ackerman in mind, tabs can be added to change the bolt point to add Ackerman effect, and the steering column can also be swapped out for a dual arm model... If I try, I'll report back. Assuming I can notice the difference...

Thanks again for the link. I have a quick follow up question. If I have an Ackerman steering column should I keep the tie-rods at the same hole?

On the column yes, then move them on the spindles.
