In road racing the Alfano unit just as good as the MyChron. I can't imagine it would be any different on a dirt oval. Customer support is the big issue. AIM for the MyChron series is second to none. The Alfano (we used to have) had to be sent to Italy for repairs and has a six week turn around time.
