Animal head differences

I spent many years working with and building flat head engines as to where the port size and shape made a big difference on the engine's performance. I did a few animal engines prior to the new RT-1 head came out but I didn`t stay with building animals much after the time that the RT-1 came out so I didn`t do much research on the RT-1 heads advantages over the smaller port heads on an unrestricted engine. Has anyone did anything on this, is it worth replacing an older head with the newer RT-1.

The RT1 head flows better (especially at higher lift) than any of the previous castings.
The old (small port) heads would still be desirable for restrictor plate racing, but most of the sanctioning bodies have mandated the newer RT1 heads.
