Animal Rings

Just want to make sure I'm getting the rings in properly...

There is a chrome ring with no paint marks, and a black ring with one paint mark.

Which one goes where? The instructions say there should be one with two paint marks that goes in the middle groove, and a ring with one paint mark that goes in the top.

I would have guessed the chrome ring goes in the top and black in the middle.

Thanks, that is what I would have done, but wanted to double check.
