Arc animal rods

I have an animal that had an arc #6247 rod in it.. I recently purchased a used arc rod #6250. I am installing this rod with Dyno an002 cam. When I installed the rod and rotated the engine with the side cover on a notice that the low right end of the rod hits between the cam lobes.... I notice that the 6247 and 6250 look totally different.. Any input out there??

I don't see the 6250 listed on their website any longer. They are both the 3.287 length rod though, I'd check the timing marks from crank to cam and make sure they are lined up correctly.

All lined up and correct on the timing.. Throwing me and the gentleman I got the rod from for a loop!! I'll be calling arc in the morning or on Monday to see what they say.. I noticed it's no longer listed on their site also!

Make sure that you didn't install the rod (and/or) rod cap backwards.

We have used the 6250 in the past with no problem.

The 6249 is the lightweight rod, the 6247 is the enduro rod. These are the rods that we generally use now.

There are slight differences in design, but ALL should clear the cam with plenty of room to spare.

Get ahold of Hunter @ ARC - he is great to work with and knows their product line better than anyone.

Spoke to ARC tech this morning. All is well. Thanks everyone!

Actually the 6249 is the "beefy" rod with a thicker beam and the 6247 is the lighter stock replacement rod... The 6250 was the original rod for the Intek/Animal, we no longer manufacture this rod.

Yea, I guess that's right, Jody. Got the numbers mixed up -- 6247 is the lighter of the two. How did you guys come up with the name "Enduro" for the 6247 rod as the lightweight one anyhow??? ;)

All of the rods that do not have the forced oil dipper are called Enduro. Those names were there before my time and I never thought about it. Probably because the word Enduro means long race...

Now that Ive thought about it the first rods ARC made in 1990 were marketed as an Endurance Billet Rod or Enduro for short. The forced oil dipper don't come along for awhile after. Don't ask me history questions after 5, my brain shuts down for the night...LOL

This rod is marked Intek 6.5 with the length.. Hmmm lol

Yes, every rod we manufactured has a date, length and designed engine engraved into it. The 6247, 6249 and the 6250 stock length rods made for the Animal engine have Intek 6.5 on them because the Animal is a purpose built 6.5 Intek engine.
