ASPHALT OVAL RESURFACING ?

Any Asphalt oval tracks have any experience with resurfacing, sealcoating, ???? definitely don't want to do this the wrong way.
 
I raced at an asphalt fairgrounds car track that was old and getting pretty coarse. The fair board told us of an outfit that was offering to reseal the track and the fair board was pretty excited about it. We weren't so sold on the idea and convinced them to have the sealer guys first lay a test portion on the track so we could try it and make our judgements. They laid it on the outside lane of turns 3 and 4 and we tried it a few weeks. Good thing they didn't seal the whole track, the test patch was slick as snot.
