Bama 250

Wanting to know if the Bama 250 would be a good engine to put on a dirt kart. Currently, run the BRC 150 but I need more grunt?

If you weigh under 180 pounds there’s no reason the BRC shouldn’t be a performer. That said, you have to have tires and roll speed dialed to take advantage of the weight break if you have one. You will never get grunt and top end to outrun a built 250/450/GM/Jawa package even though they may weigh 50-100 pounds more than you. 116’s, 131’s and 150’s with a hotshoe jockey and setup/tires are where those packages shine the most because the big motors can’t sail in the corners like a small displacement low weight package does. That said, are you running big size tracks or bullrings? Top end can run out against the big gun engines where you’re on the loud pedal the whole time regardless of setup and weight on a large track.

Hi mate. I'm 95kgs .It's a hard clay track with left and right corners. A few of the corners are slow which needs an engine to have good low end torque. The BRC is OK but I'm up against a twin engine kart so I need a wee bit more.

It's not an oval but a track that has corners so I'm on and off the throttle a lot

Does anyone have photos of the Bama 250 engine in or out of the kart they can send me? I want to be able to fit it in a standard kart frame and want to see the setup so I can get an idea of seat position etc?

Is this an open class? If so I don’t think the bama is the move. It’ll be hard on clutches and very difficult to keep cleaned out. You’re better off with a 250 or 450 that still has the gear box.

I'm with Rainman on this one the Wankel may just be the ticket. They are pretty low maintenance if you treat them right. later Chuck.
