I have never raced before so no experience. Putting a kart together for predator class, hope to run Selingsgrove, Penns Creek and 7 Stars in central PA (I have limited time so the varied schedules should help). I have a bunch of rear gears, but only 3 size (12, 13 & 22 tooth) drive. I would like to purchase a drive gear or 2 but was not sure what size to look for.

I also need to add about 75lbs. Where would I put that much weight? How high am I trying to get it. I know I will need to adjust location as I scale but need some starting place. The guy I bought from said on the seat, but that seems like a lot of weight on the seat.

I am sure I will have more questions as I go but this will start to get me close till I see how driving goes.

Thanks, this forum is eating up a bunch of my time but I am learning a lot.

Most recommend bolting weights to the seat. 75 pounds is a lot. I have a cloth covered piece of sheet lead which is contoured to fit inside of the seat. Thin and heavy (about 25 pounds) and not uncomfortable to sit on. Somebody here on Bobs sells sheet lead from time to time in the classifieds. You can probably search here to find him. At one point he indicated he could make a piece to fit in a seat pad shape. No easier way to add 25 pounds.

No problem getting 75lb of pucks on the seat, for those tracks you'll need 15, 16,17,18,19 front drivers and 54 thru 64 rear gears, what chassis did you buy ? where are you from ? I'm right here in central Pa and know All these tracks well, in fact I was the track director for 7 stars for 16 yrs when it was Greenwood Raceway most called it Little g.

I understand it is a predator frame, but old. The pan says predator. I live just south of Sunbury, my wife says this is my midlife crisis, but finally have some money to do something I might like. I would like to say I have the time, but that will be tricker. Thanks for the information so I can work on gearing.
