Bore gauge

Dug my micrometers and bore gauge out .
For some inspection work on a engine .
Question is .
When setting up the bore gauge .
Do Ya'll set it at the desired bore .
Or set at say 2 inch then just add the dial reading in .
FYI . Feeler gauge confirmed the bore gauge reading.

I check with bore gauge first, then recheck piston size and then put piston in the cylinder and check cylinder wall gap, piston plus gap should equal size showing on bore gauge…maybe not the industry standard but works for me…

Ten 4 . Yea I checked it every way possible .
As long as I get consistent reading I am happy .

Yes I ran the bore gauge up and down .
Spun it around top , middle and bottom.
Mostly curious about the setting of it .
Surely everyone has there favorite way .
