The springs see the highest stress during the installation. If you frequently remove and install the springs then you run the risk of expanding the spring too far and it will take a set. You can easily check the engaging speed while your kart is on the stand. I will start the engine and with the brake lightly pressed, run the engine rpm up. You will hear the clutch when it begins to engage. If the brake is very lightly pressed then you will see the tire begin to turn and you can look at the tach to see your engagement rpm. Don't slip it long because you will start heating up the clutch. Check the engaging speed once in a while and you can see if it is changing. If the engaging speed drops significantly then change out the springs. We will run all season on the same set of springs.
