Looking at your pictures in photobucket and I have to give you an A+ for that picture of the motor that is split in half. LOL ; a job well done !! Thats one way to see what the inside looks like.

Yeah I did two that way before I decided to back off of the small chamber head. The second one went even with tie rods across the top and front of the motor. Easy disassembly; remove side cover bolts and slide top half of motor off. LOL...

Wash it off and set them on your coffee table , great conversation piece. Maybe some nice bookends if you have a pair.

LOL. I did used to wash my flatheads in the kitchen sink and assemble on the kitchen table when I was still at home many many years ago. Mom wasn't thrilled..

LOL

I had a friend wash some cylinder heads for a Harley in his dishwasher, not a bad idea until his wife came home early half way through the wash cycle ; needless to say he never did that again.

At least Mom knew where you were.

Yeah, plain old blue Dawn definitely "gets grease out of your way" You just had to get some WD on that I.C. sleeve pretty quick after the final rinse....

My final wash has always been soap and water after coming out of the parts washer , yes you need to get something on the sleeve pretty quick ; amazing on how fast the rust shows up.
