Cast crankshaft strength?

Will a cast 460 crank withstand the beating from a four disk Bully? I’m thinking about boring and stroking a 460 to something bigger. Getting all that torque to the ground becomes and issue.

Doubtful. The stock 390 Honda crank did alright. The cast 420 crank didn't fair well. 460 suspect the same.

The other thing is that you'll eat friction discs in your 4 disc Bully to the tune of $100 every race or two. A jackshaft solves a LARGE part of that problem. That would be my suggestion for sure.

I road race a VC 460 with a 4 disc Bully on a jackshaft. What Brian says is true. The jackshaft does save the clutch discs. I buff the discs after two race weekends and change them after 6 race weekends. They are usually still within spec so I keep them for spares. The belt drive on the crank to the jackshaft and a chain to the sprocket configuration works very well.

I think the weight of the big clutch hanging off of the crank may contribute to abnormal disc wear in non-jackshafted applications.
