new to karting. i have been racing a #35 chain and running a 17/61 at my local kart club. i'm racing on a 2 mile street course next weekend. i am going to use a 19/57 or 19/58. i can't go lower that 61 gear on my chain. do i have to add links or subtract links for a 19/57 or 19/58 gears?

Add one link, move the engine forward. 47% front/53% rear weight distribution. Keep the rpm at 5800 max when you are not in the draft. You will be adding or reducing rear gear teeth as the the track changes. 19T driver sounds a little low. Typically we run a 21/63 and the rear spins easier due to less chain resistance. You may want to consider a rear gear chain guard which reduces the chance of the chain falling off. We are switching to a 23T driver this season to see if it affects performance. Good luck!
