Checking timing

Be careful. More timing is not always more power. Also, you can get beyond the legal limit with the L206.
No offset keys, no filing of key or keyway, no elongating/slotting of the coil holes, no turning down the bolt threads on the coil bolts. You still have plenty of adjustment and remain legal on a 206.
For a blueprinted WKA alcohol animal, we still only advance the timing minimally (2* for the most part.)

To accurately check timing, you need to mark the flywheel and use a timing light. Then put the degree wheel on and determine at what degree it is firing. Then you need to check things out with the process outlined in the 206 rules. The tech procedure is not the actual timing but rather a repeatable process in the field checking for legality. Then reread Mr. Carlson's post because he is giving you an important hint about 206 timing.
