Racing in mid michigan at arthur raceway 1/8 oval clay/dirt. First race ever. 14/64....look at my tach, 5560, not good. I should be running from 6800 rpms to 7100. Guy next to me said, "hey man that's the same my daughter is doing in her predator. Try a 13/65. 6550 rpms in the 2nd heat. Come back out and he shows me more with the tow and camber. He says to try 13/68 now, 6340 rpms in the feature. What happened? Is it gear up in the rear less top end, or should I have gone to a 13/63 for more top end?

Thank you,
Michael Frizzelle

Yes bigger rear gear will reduce potential speed . If rpm does not go up .
The driver :ie human has an effect as well via the driving line .

So I should've gone down in rear teeth say 13/64 or 13/63, and NOT up from 13/65 to 13/68?
Yes based on knowing a 13/61 hit target rpm the week before, and based on that info a big red flag should have popped up when you were less than 5500 with all but same ratio.
