I spray them lightly and allow them to cure, too much oil will cause a problem

Ive seen some really really wore out engines not run with a filter. If the rings are not sealing or a small exhaust valve leak then it cant overcome the filter restriction and "sucks" air from the leaks. Never seen it on a "race" engine, only very very worn industrial stuff. Probably is over oiled filter however. Let us know what you find. Good luck

Were all the filters the same, or different ones? If they were different, which one worked? You say it runs with no filter, but can you rev the engine up?

Comments compliments criticisms and questions always welcome.

All the filters are the same....I washed all them out and now they work....Guess i just had too much in 3 of the 4....Thanks guys for the advice...It runs great now....Now ready for the weather to cooperate so we can go race it....

Try just getting some of the foam filter spray and not putting any filter oil on the filter itself, i have had alot better luck that way and my carb or engine never has dirt in them anymore. I was still getting a little dirt in the engine while using filter oil on the filter itself but not on the foam prefilter. You can put the oil on the foam prefilter, and get an outerwears cover for it, keeps them clean and working properly with no issues, and you can be sure your keeping dirt out of your engines. I learned the hard way what a little dirt getting past the filter can do to your valves and piston rings, a little dirt can do alot of damage lol
