What's the best way to hold the crank when tightening and removing the nut on an L&T oil clutch ?

An L&T clutch tool , it's a spanner socket

What's the best way without the tool? First race is tomorrow night and we don't have the option to get one that soon.

Impact it on - 30 - 35 foot pounds max.

Seat is in my way cant get impact on. I take the pull rope off and hold with a socket on the flywheel nut.

I'm always amazed by many who can not see, simply remove the already loosened butterflies, and tip the engine to get to the clutch.

Can't and won't are cousins neither one get much done .
Drill a hole in the seat or use a piston stop .

Put a box wrench on it and give a wacky with a hammer. Don't over do it. This has worked for me for years.

A small hole saw on a drill, or use a Dremel to cut a hole in the seat in line with the clutch bolt. Sure saves time loosening the motor mount, etc.

If you're removing the clutch, then chances are that you will need to loosen the motor mount anyway (depending on how much clearance you have between the end of the crank and the side of the seat and since the chain needed removed from the clutch driver end anyways.)
