Debris

When building an engine , what's your go too method of cleaning .
Example :I walk on the carpet and can feel every little bit of dirt or cookie crumb with my bare feet . How does the engine feel with that same little bit of crude ?
So I prefer wash it down with brake clean , carb clean or mineral spirits first .
Then wash it in hot soapy water with a dash of mineral spirits .
The mineral spirits keeps the bore from rusting right off .
Check the bore with a oiled white cotton cloth .
Plenty of fresh clean oil for assembly .

after disassembly I put all the parts in my heated parts washer and degrease them. I then perform any needed machining procedures. After machining I vapor hone all aluminum parts , they come out better looking than new. After rinsing multiple times, I put them all in my ultrasonic cleaner with heated distilled water to guarantee all debris is removed. During assembly i inspect and reclean all parts with brake cleaner.

I go to Cracker Barrel, order breakfast, tip the bus boy 5 bucks and have him run my parts through the dish washer, he's easier to get along with than my wife on those dishwasher requests!
