Disc clutch springs

I’m trying to build some clutches out of a box of parts.is there a baseline setting for the springs? We are going to bolt them on motors, put them on the Dyno and see what they stall at. I feel I should set the spring at minimal tension and do most of the setting with the wieghts Is this correct ?

lever weight and spring tension need to go hand in hand to work correctly... I’d be more concerned with trying to find springs as close as possible to the same poundage at the install height you need if your just pulling parts out of a box.

Absolutely be more concerned with matching spring pressures.
Keep in mind that wire diameter and length also affect the spring pressure.
Don't just go by what color they are painted. I've seen plenty of clutches come through our shop for a rebuild that had re-painted springs that were not OEM color/specs.
If you don't have a way to accurately measure spring pressures, at the very least use some calipers to measure the spring wire diameter and overall length.
