Drilling gas cap?

I know its a stupid question but i need to vent the cap on my bs predator and was wondering what people were doing. Are you literally drilling a hole completely through the cap top to bottom?
 
I drilled two 1/8 holes at the 11 o clock position on my cap. Figured the gas would slosh to the opposite corner but have yet to test.
