My question is is there much difference between racing dirt and asphalt.
It's been years since I've ran an asphalt, and the only thing I can remember is you don't lean on or really try to move someone.
The reason I'm asked is my son has limited dirt experience, and in a few weeks we're going to try asphalt oval racing.
I'm got a good setup, but I've just told him what I can remember.

good dirt drivers transition easily to asphalt. (ever heard of Mario Andretti) Principles are the same. be smooth, carry momentum, consistency in driving the line etc etc. I would think tires would be easier as I would not be as concerned with the track making a dramatic change. I would go with the smallest I could get away with.
