Du bushing

the crank is .875 ?
intended use would be a factor .
contact with the coil is the main concern . open the coil gap if it has a consiberable amount of prceptable movement .

It’s for a mini bike, I just don’t want it to wear prematurely or cause any issues internally. The engine is basically stock ungoverned only upgrade is arc billet rod.

A DU bushing is a good fix for it to be on the safe side. We install main bushings like this regularly in the shop. Give us a call if we can be of any help.
It will probably be alright for your application as is though. As mentioned above, gap the coil air gap wider to ensure the flywheel does not come in contact with the coil legs at rpm.

Can you install bushings in blocks that weren't DU to begin with?

Yes, we do it on a regular basis on a mill here in the shop.
We would need the bare block and sidecover that you intend to use with it.

My Briggs service/repair manual states that"reject size" for the mag side block bushing is .878" or more which means it is worn out and should have a new bushing installed. (Rounded off you are almost at .879")

...and keep in mind that's spec for oem lawn & garden application turning 3600 rpm.
Double the rpm in a race application and you will want considerably tighter.
