Dyno cam help

Hey everyone I'm new here. Anyways I just built an engine using a bsp block.

List of parts.
Arc billet flywheel
Arc billet rod
1.3 ratio rockers
Stainless valves +28 lbs springs
Flat top piston
.310 cam dyno cam
Everything ordered from ARC.

My problem is When we fired it up to do the first break in we noticed there was a weird knock. (Not like a rod knock) so we shut it down. After it cooled we took it apart and inspected everything.

Everything looked and checked out perfect, all clearances are good and nothing hitting. All was good except we noticed excessive backlash between the cam and crank gear. We reinstalled the BSP-2 cam to check if it was similar and it wasn’t. The bsp-2 had almost no lash at all. We mic’d the teeth on the cams and found each tooth on the dyno cam are .013 smaller in thickness then the bsp-2. Has anyone had a similar issue? Are they just looser by design? input will be greatly appreciated Thanks.

What instrument are you using for this measurement ?
Where is the difference the base or tip .
Of hand I would say thats not the problem .
You can hear this knock while its running ?
DYNO would be better for design questions .
