Edge of a tire

I was told a tire is good till the edge is gone...how do you know the edge of a tire , (preferably grip or life), of a tire is gone and ready to be flipped or put in the throw away pile?. I have a set that the side is starting to roll..why is that?

Yes side ( edge) is rolled on just 1 side it needs flipped,, and wear line is gone, when rolled on both edges and outer wear line is gone TOSS it.

Hold the tire up and look at it. Compare the 2 sides of the tire and you will visually see how the edge on one side is more defined than another side. The more defined the better edge.
