Flywheel question

Any tips on what to do to keep the flywheel from sticking on the crankshaft?

You might want to invest in a knocker. There only 10 bucks and it will help you a lot removing the flywheel. I wouldn't try to not keep it from being installed tight because that's the point. If not the flywheel will slip ruining the crank or flywheel itself.

If it is sticking because you are trying to set the timing, move it away from the coil

that is a good thing much better then slipping. I know it can be a pain to get it off but the tool mentioned above will make it simple.
