For years now I've thought/thunk on a kickoff if the punter can put it thru the uprights it should be good for 1(ONE) point.

and ????

It's called football ain't it?>

thanks for the info

.... then if the kicker can put it thru the uprights on a kickoff it should be one point

While not part of the rules, also somewhat impossible.

Kickoff from the 30 yd line means the ball must travel 70 yds to reach the goal line.
The goal posts align with the back line of the end zone. The cross bar is 10 ft off the playing surface, meaning the ball must travel 80 yds and cross the end line at least 10 ft up and between the uprights.

The rules allow for a kick that splits the uprights only from a scrimmage play, one point only available after a touchdown.

Kickoffs that pass the end line only constitute a touchback, allowing the receiving team to start there scrimmage plays from a point advanced from the goal line.
Rules dictate where that point is.
