We run a 3.5 class at kam kartway. Nice wide dirt oval with good banking about 500ft round. We run a 11t 67t. My son runs the top and keeps his foot in it. We are going to waco next week which has longer straights and flat tight corners. Its 560ft round. Should i change my gearing. If so what should i change it to. When we get there i adjust the chassis to his likeing for the tight corners. Also, what is the best way to clean these drum style clutches? Wipe out with WD 40?

Sand the surface of the shoes and drum with light grit sandpaper then spray with wd40 and wipe off. You will probably need a bigger driver gear for the track you are going to, maybe a 12 or 13 tooth driver but you might be able to use the 11 you have now but change the rear gear to something like a 62-63. If the track has tighter turns than the one your racing at now, you will likely need more rear stagger to help the kart thru the tighter turns. Good luck
