Gifford Racing engine???

I picked up a flathead dirt cheap for the tilly on it. I started popping it apart just to see what it all has. The name engraved on the block and cam is Gifford it says BMR SS above Gifford on the block. The cam says Gifford F/U. It has dual valve springs and a tilly HL334A847. But it has a 9 that someone punched over the 4. That's literally all I have on this engine. So if anyone could maybe point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
