GX160 piston ring break-in procedure?

The correct angle of the cross hatch is as/if not more important than the depth of the finish. Steve is correct the ring do the final machining, that is why you need to get that initial oil out rather quickly. Ring to cylinde will cause the majority of the debri in the first oil change, plus carbon, and fuel from blow by until rings seat, which happens very quickly.

Agree with kart43 and I would add to this that we think 30 degree angle cross hatch works best. The bigger angles take longer for break in procedure. 30 seems to work good for us.
