Gx270 as an open?

Have a brand new never even start gx270. Wondering if it's worth making an open engine out of or should I invest in a Yamaha or big block? Also have a flathead. Modified/open? Suggestions please. Thank you

Edit: what are your thoughts on open animal?
 
I haven't built one but by the numbers I think it would be an excellent engine. I saw that the race at DuQuion this year is a 300cc open class which should be in that wheelhouse.
 
If you are limited to 250cc's you can either get a GX240 block which is the same stroke and I believe the same internals with a smaller bore or sleeve down your existing block.
