Helmet tap signals

Feel like an idiot for asking but haven't been in karts since I was a kid and haven't strapped a helmet before this year since 1999. I know the use your head tap or gesture but during the Syracuse indoor race, I saw a lot of guys doing tapping gestures on their helmets on primary the restarts. I felt like it was some sort of gesture to link up as our restarts looked pretty clean. Anything I'm missing since I've been away so long?

Yep, croquet ball effect -- "give me a tap to help gain rpm and get a good launch on the start." It's also used on bigger tracks for bump drafting (straightaways only - please.) :)

Thanks,
Brian Carlson
