Homemade prep question

I've been pondering the idea of homemade prep over store-bought. I was not really on a program since I was brought up without it. Just seeing if anyone had ideas. I run Burris 33's on northeastern hard slick clay

Have you proven to yourself that a fresh 2021 33 with NO prep will not go ?

Xylene or toluene mixed with mineral spirits and some sort of oils (transmission fluid, diesel fuel, etc) is an old school red that was ok.
Some guys still like to wipe with WD40, or Simple Green.
50% paint thinner 50% transmission fluid is what we used to use when we ran Burris 33's.

I used to use WD40 on Vegas when I first started. On the kid kart we used to simple green them and Saran Wrap em
