idle circuit

have i got this process right? can it be explained better... would love input on making any changes to these parts and why.

learning The idle circuit on a standard clone/ pred carb.
on the left hand side of the choke butterfly end of the carb is a hole with a brass lining. air passes into it and through the black low speed/ idle jet. as the air passes through the large horizontal hole, the speed of the air draws fuel through up the tiny brass vertical orifice under it, which is connected to a hole that draws fuel from the lowest part of the E tube. a 4 small hole area with a raised ring above and below the holes. (standard etube) as the air draws up fuel, through the brass idle jet it is pushed (air and fuel?) through the carb to 4 tiny holes just outside the accelerator butterfly plate.

Idle is adjusted by way of opening the butterfly.. if this is completely closed, what other way would you adjust up idle? if there is a screw (not a plug) How does this screw work? will it let in more air fuel?? or is it just fuel or just air.
