Internal prep asphalt tires?

It depends a lot on the grip levels of the track as well. Even asphalt has varying levels of grip. The tracks we ran were older, less grippy. But, for Vega we rolled usually 60cc.

What we rolled was broad, a lot of times you could get away with just Hotlap II in summer. Spring and fall you'd mix something slightly more aggressive to fire the tires , but mostly running on the Hotlap II to maintain consistent temps. We tried a few different tracktac preps. SST, SQS, Kryptonite, all worked great inside and out on Vega. Just depends how much grip you need. 30-60cc is about the most we ever used.

Thats interesting, did not realize there are different grip levels. Does bumpiness effect grip, I know we use less air on bumpy tracks.

Lots of reasons for asphalt to lose grip. Dirt as the track ages and natural dust and things settle on on the track. Yes, even how rough it is can change grip. Even fairly fresh paved can get greasy as the track warms up during the day and lose grip. Some mix asphalt and concrete in the corners. Lots of variables even in asphalt. So generally the less aggressive preps for good grip, and more aggressive for less grip just like dirt. But, you're looking at a fraction of what is needed for dirt.

Yellow Vega, seems thats what all tracks run in the northeast
We roll almost all of our Vegas internally.
For pavement, you roll internally for different reasons that the dirt guys do. You're not so much looking for more grip or softening as you are working with tire temps and continually pulling fresh oil through the tire.
Our Medium Rare goes inside 95% of our pavement tires. 2 ounces in the right sides and 1 ounce in the lefts.
FWIW, we ship tires for the couple tracks in your area on just about a weekly basis.

Give us a call at the shop if we can answer any questions specific to our Vega pavement tire program.
