Kid and Cadet karts

Started my Nephew in a kid kart at 4 yrs old and he was a little squirt, have seen many 4 & 5 yr old's in them. Check your local tracks rules.

Kid kart will be a 30" wheelbase kart for 5-8 year olds

A cadet chassis will be 35-41" wheelbase and is for 7-12 year olds

Totally dependant on local track interpretation as there are a lot of track that do not follow a Nationally recognized set of rules.

So it has more to do with the age and the rules by the local track rather then the size of the driver?

The kid karts are a lot smaller and easier to move around. One person can lift a kid kart out of the back of a pickup truck or on and off a stand but the cadets are more unwieldy. My kid is on the bubble age wise and I went with cadet but I kind of wish we had started with a kid kart. Margay makes kid and cadet karts with adjustable pedals - you can also get pedal relocation kits from Noonan or pedal extenders to make sure they can reach the pedals.
