KT 100 mag timing

Where on the coil legs to the magnet aliment does it spark at trying to check the timing on a stroker kt100 on gas

cmello,

Don't hold me to this, but for some reason the number 28 degrees sticks in my head from many years ago.

So if you stick a degree wheel on that thing and roll it to 28 BTDC, that might tell you were the firing point is on the magnet/coil relationship.

If it is assembled put an old fashioned timing light on it (hooked to a 12V source) and spin it with your starter. You'll know exactly where it is firing.

As usual Pete is correct .
Racing the kt100 book lists timing at 28* .
Unfortunately no indication of the firing point .
Degree wheel or timing light both would work .

28° @ 5000 RPM retarding to 22.5° @ 10,000 RPM then it's steady though the rest of the RPM range.

Now if you can find any of the "Atom" TCI's, a couple of them will change the curve. One retards 3 more degrees & the other advances 2 more degrees than the stock TCI. They were once "legal" in stock classes but, I'm not so sure nowadays.
