Understand (regrettably) the reason for not allowing EGT in race conditions Are studs allowed for the exhaust on a 206 ? Would make swapping headers much easier - less chance of killing a threaded hole….

Yes, we use them. There is a Briggs part number. I’ll dig it up on Monday. You can use any stud, just don’t get too long of ones cause it gets a little tight with the plate gasket that holds the valve cover.

Yes, studs are allowed (ie legal.) As for swapping headers being much easier... not. Turning those hex nuts 1/6 of a turn 80 times with an open end wrench takes forever.
Most that are using studs, I assume, are doing so as to prevent stripping the threads in the head. Safety wiring should be done through the nut, not the stud.

Small nut? It's the same size as the bolt head if not easier to drill because of the flats.
Drill jig. You can do it in a drill press if you don't mind breaking some bits.

I feel silly over such a small thing, but how would you wire it without also drilling the stud? I must be missing something.

When we ran Animal we ran metric wheel nuts. Cylindrical with internal hex and about 1 1/4 long.
