Lambda/O2 sensor in muffler - air leakage?

Are there issues with air leakage at the joint between the LO206 pipe and the silencer? I want to put a wideband O2 sensor in a spare silencer but was wondering if there are any tricks to getting the header/silencer connection airtight.
 
I do not think the leakage there will affect it enough to bother .
Its possible if it was able to draw in enough fresh air to alter the reading .
Any sealer there may be a DQ .
If legal , hi temp silicone or some type wood stove sealer , muffler cement or ceramic tape.
 
This is just for testing. A spec silencer without the O2 sensor would be used for competition.
 
Exhaust gas temp sensors are a whole lot cheaper.
 
Clearly a hp gain is worthwhile .
Is there enough gain in tuning an LO 206 via a lambda 02 reading to justify it ?
Would you also need some type of data logging along with it ?
 
If there is any leakage between the muffler and pipe, that is a nokey dokey in tech as well.
Running the O2 sensor for practice is just fine.
Remember that (like a dyno) it is simply a comparative device. You can clamp it to the back of the muffler and get good readings just be sure that it is always picking up the exhaust from the same location each time you test.
