The recommended orifice size for aircraft engines is 0.040 up to five inch bore size.
And 0.060 orifice for larger bore engines.
As there are no really small bore aircraft engines, they don't mention what sized orifice for instance, a three inch bore size might require.
Yet car engines vary considerably in bore size, but everyone just uses the 0.040 standard that comes with the leak down tester. A more reasonable way to look at this might be to scale the orifice to bore size.
Six inch bore = 0.060 orifice
Five inch bore = 0.050 orifice
Four inch bore = 0.040 orifice
Three inch bore = 0.030 orifice
And 0.060 orifice for larger bore engines.
