Lifters

The base circle of the cam is what determines whether or not you’ll need extended lifters or not. If it is smaller than a stock cam base circle you’ll need extended lifters. Off the top of my head, I can’t remember what a stock cam measures. You will have to grind the lifters to the correct length and the valve stems to set the proper lash.
 
Stock cams use stock length lifters .
High lift cams use extended lifters .
Some of the cheater cams you can use new valves and be fine .
