LO206 cylinder shield screw

Just did a leakdown test on our 206 and it was very low (even with the engine cold the only detectable leakage was in the crankcase - our local kart shop did the head over the winter and did a great job). In the process I realized some of the threads on the cylinder shield bolt (the little 4mm bolt with the 7mm flanged head) are either damaged by me (or maybe they were never there initially). There are still enough threads to tighten things down. If these threads ever get damaged what is the best way to repair this? Tap out threads for a 5mm bolt? A helicoil or timesert? Are the current threads M4 x .7?
