LO206 question

We have a local track that has 3 adult classes for the 206.
Like everyone else they're hard to find. I have reached out to a near by vendor who has a few in stock.
If I bought one and put the add on's on myself would it be a competitive engine or should I get one already dynoed.
I've heard that it's ready to go out of the box , is that true.

When you pay a builder to set-up a 206, you're basically paying for their experience and tuning on their dyno. All stuff the racer can likely do on his own, but having peace of mind of someone with years of experience setting it up for you is worth something.
Aligning the intake manifold & carb, rolling the cam and setting valve lash, setting ignition timing and coil air gap, getting the carb tune right, etc.
There are definitely gains to be had by having the engine properly tuned, no doubt.

For the average club racer - are you really looking for more HP or are you just wanting to make laps? I guess that really decides your need to have the engine looked after by a professional or not.
